Bowlees Visitor Centre

Middleton in Teesdale, County Durham

 

Visitor centre housed in a Methodist chapel. Natural history displays which include geology, landscape, archaeology, flora, vegetation, wildlife, food and farming. Coffee shop and gift shop. Ideal base for exploring Teesdale which is very important for its rare birds and many flowering points. Area is very rich geologically. Occasional events and exhibitions reflecting the themes of nature conservation and life in upper Teesdale.

From Barnard Castle take B6277 north west through Middleton in Teesdale. Visitor Centre is on right just past Newbiggin.

Nearest railway station is Darlington Station.
