ON A SHOE STRING
**For a limited time only, Enjoy England are offering a 20% discount for top attractions across the country**
Almost everyone is on a budget these days and sometimes we all need a break or a day out that’s, quite frankly, cheap and cheerful. You’d be surprised at the number of attractions and destinations that are either free or can be visited at a reduced price. Sometimes, it’s hard to know where to look to find this sort of information so we thought we’d gather a few top tips together.
A startling number of England’s big museums are free. Why not let the kids get hands-on at the Science Museum in London (take a picnic and remember under-16s travel free on London’s public transport)? Or take a trip to the Royal Armouries in Leeds where dreams of knights in armour can come true for nothing?
Some attractions offer discounted admissions if you travel by public transport. This includes nearly 50 National Trust properties such as Sudbury Hall & Museum of Childhood and Wimpole Hall & Home Farm. And look out for transport and entrance saver combination tickets such as Bristol Zoo’s safari ticket available on either bus or train. Or you may be able to take advantage of totally FREE travel!
There are lots of combination entrance ticket savers to be found across the country that are especially useful if you are staying in one area for a few days. Check out The Big Three, which gives three for the price of two on some of East Anglia’s top attractions (Banham Zoo, Africa Alive! and Dinosaur Adventure). Or Leicestershire’s Stay, Play, Explore offering nearly 50% off the combined price for five fun attractions (and discounted hotel rates).
Some delightful destinations are just plain and fantastically free. Take a look at our Seaside and Nature themes to see all the glorious family-friendly beaches and National Parks open to you. You may have to pay to park but once you’ve done that then the rest of the day is a bargain!
If you’re planning on travelling by train, then do try to travel off peak (and book ahead if you can) and always take a look at the relevant train company’s website for any special or combined offers that may be available.
